Flavours of Nigeria Festival is Canada’s leading Nigerian cultural showcase, dedicated to celebrating Nigeria’s rich ethnic diversity through food, fashion, music, arts, and cultural diplomacy. Since 2024, each edition spotlights a distinct Nigerian culture, offering Canadians and the Nigerian diaspora deeper insight into Nigeria’s cultural heritage while supporting small businesses, exhibitions, and live cultural performances.
The inaugural 2024 edition celebrated Efik culture, followed by the Benin Kingdom in 2025. Building on this legacy, the 2026 edition will spotlight Hausa-Fulani (Arewa) culture under the theme “The Royal Courts of Arewa: Culture as a Bridge to Peace.” The theme highlights the grandeur of Northern Nigeria’s royal heritage while positioning culture as a tool for peace, unity, and intercultural understanding across Nigeria, Africa, Canada, and the global community.
Key highlights of the 2026 festival include an immersive Royal Court Experience featuring durbar parades and symbolic ceremonies; a Gastronomy Showcase of iconic Arewa cuisine; Fashion and Arts Exhibitions celebrating traditional and contemporary Hausa-Fulani designs; vibrant Music and Dance Performances; Cultural Diplomacy Dialogues focused on peace, trade, and investment; and a Special State Showcase promoting tourism and investment opportunities in Northern Nigeria.
