Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 7, 2026

Wakalist respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, when we share it, how long we keep it, and the choices available to you when you use the Wakalist website, platform, and related services (collectively, the “Service”).

In this Privacy Policy, “Wakalist,” “we,” “us,” and “our” mean Wakalist Inc.

By using Wakalist, you acknowledge the practices described in this Privacy Policy. Where consent is required by law, we ask for it separately.

1. What This Policy Covers

This Privacy Policy applies when you:

  • browse or search Wakalist;
  • create or use an account;
  • save places or events;
  • use recent-search features;
  • use AI-assisted discovery features when available;
  • suggest a place or event;
  • report an issue;
  • contact us;
  • subscribe to newsletters or marketing communications; or
  • otherwise interact with the Service.

Wakalist is responsible for personal information under its control.

2. Information We Collect

Information You Provide

Depending on how you use Wakalist, you may provide information such as:

  • your name and email address;
  • account and profile information;
  • newsletter and marketing preferences;
  • search terms and selected location;
  • saved places or events;
  • messages sent to support;
  • suggestions, corrections, or issue reports; and
  • other information you choose to submit through Wakalist.

Please avoid entering highly sensitive personal information into search, AI-assisted discovery, suggestion forms, issue reports, or support messages unless it is genuinely necessary.

Search and Location Information

Wakalist is designed around a location you choose, such as a city, neighborhood, or broader area.

We may process the searches you enter and the location you select so we can provide relevant results, remember recent searches, improve discovery, and maintain continuity between related searches.

Wakalist does not require precise device GPS location for its core discovery experience.

Recent Searches

Wakalist may remember recent searches to make discovery faster and more useful.

For users who are not signed in, recent searches may be stored on the device for a limited period.

For signed-in users, recent searches may be associated with the account so they can be used across account-based experiences. Recent searches are kept for a limited period.

You can remove individual recent searches or clear your recent-search history using available Wakalist controls.

AI-Assisted Discovery

Wakalist may offer AI-assisted discovery features that help interpret natural-language questions and turn them into Wakalist searches.

When you use an AI-assisted feature, the text of your question and limited context needed to understand it may be processed by a third-party AI service provider on Wakalist's behalf.

AI-assisted discovery is intended to help interpret your request. Results remain based on Wakalist inventory and should not be treated as independent verification that a venue, event, price, schedule, operating hour, ticket, or other real-world condition is current.

Conversation history shown within the AI-assisted experience may be kept temporarily in your browser session so you can ask follow-up questions.

Do not enter passwords, payment-card information, government identifiers, medical information, or other highly sensitive personal information into AI-assisted discovery.

Information Collected Automatically

When you use Wakalist, our hosting, security, and infrastructure systems may automatically process technical information such as:

  • IP address;
  • browser and device information;
  • operating system;
  • request and diagnostic information;
  • timestamps;
  • referring pages;
  • pages requested; and
  • security or fraud-prevention signals.

This information may be processed where necessary to deliver, secure, troubleshoot, and protect the Service.

Optional Analytics

If you choose to accept optional analytics, Wakalist may collect information about how the Service is used, such as:

  • pages or features used;
  • searches and discovery actions;
  • result counts;
  • saves, shares, calls, directions, and other decision actions;
  • device or browser context; and
  • approximate location derived from network information.

Wakalist does not intentionally send raw free-text AI questions to its analytics provider. For AI-related analytics, we may collect limited non-content information such as query length, result count, feature surface, or conversation-turn number.

3. How We Use Personal Information

We may use personal information to:

  • provide, operate, and maintain Wakalist;
  • return relevant places, events, and other discovery results;
  • create and manage accounts and sessions;
  • provide saved items, recent searches, and profile preferences;
  • support AI-assisted discovery when available;
  • process suggestions, reports, and support requests;
  • communicate with you about your account or the Service;
  • send newsletters or marketing communications where permitted;
  • understand how Wakalist is used when optional analytics is enabled;
  • improve reliability, usability, and product quality;
  • detect fraud, abuse, security threats, or technical failures;
  • enforce our Terms of Service; and
  • comply with legal obligations.

We do not use personal information for a materially new purpose without obtaining any consent required by applicable law.

4. Accounts and Saved Information

If you create a Wakalist account, we use account and session information to sign you in, keep your account secure, and provide account-based features.

Signed-in users may save places or events and manage profile preferences. These records are associated with the account so Wakalist can provide the requested functionality.

5. Communications and Newsletter

Wakalist may send newsletters, account-related emails, transactional messages, support communications, and other service communications.

Where required, marketing communications are sent only with appropriate consent and include sender identification and an unsubscribe mechanism.

You can withdraw marketing consent using the unsubscribe link in an email or available account controls.

You may still receive non-marketing messages where they are necessary to operate or protect your account or the Service.

6. Cookies and Browser Storage

Wakalist uses cookies and browser storage to provide and secure the Service.

This may include storage used for:

  • account sessions;
  • your selected location;
  • privacy preferences;
  • recent searches;
  • temporary AI-assisted conversation history; and
  • other limited functionality needed to operate the Service.

Some storage is essential for the requested feature to work. Optional analytics storage is controlled separately through Wakalist's privacy choices.

7. Optional Analytics and Privacy Choices

Optional analytics is disabled unless you choose to enable it.

If enabled, Wakalist may use an analytics service provider to understand product usage and feature performance.

Wakalist does not intentionally enable automatic behavioral recording or session replay as part of its current analytics setup.

You can change your analytics preference using the Privacy choices control.

If you withdraw analytics consent, Wakalist stops future optional analytics tracking and clears Wakalist-specific analytics state from the browser in accordance with the implemented privacy controls.

8. Service Providers and Other Disclosures

Wakalist relies on service providers to operate the Service.

These providers may support functions such as:

  • hosting and infrastructure;
  • account authentication and database services;
  • content and media management;
  • email delivery and newsletter management;
  • maps, directions, and listing information;
  • optional product analytics;
  • AI-assisted discovery; and
  • security, debugging, and operational monitoring.

We disclose information to service providers only as reasonably necessary for the service they provide to Wakalist and subject to applicable agreements and legal requirements.

We may also disclose personal information:

  • when required by law, legal process, or a lawful government request;
  • where reasonably necessary to protect Wakalist, users, businesses, or others from fraud, abuse, security threats, or unlawful conduct;
  • in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or sale of assets, subject to applicable law; or
  • with your consent.

9. Listing and Business Information

Wakalist may display information about businesses, venues, events, organizers, and other third parties.

Listing information may come from public sources, business websites, maps and listing providers, event sources, manual research, editorial review, user suggestions, or business submissions.

Listing information can change and may not always match the original source in real time. You should verify important details directly with the relevant business, organizer, or provider before relying on them.

10. No Sale of Personal Information

Wakalist does not sell personal information.

Wakalist does not currently share personal information with third parties for cross-context behavioral advertising and does not intentionally use advertising-retargeting cookies on the Service.

If these practices change, we will update our disclosures before using personal information for a materially different advertising purpose.

11. International Processing

Wakalist is based in Canada, but some service providers may process or store information in the United States or other jurisdictions.

When personal information is processed outside Canada, it may be subject to the laws of the jurisdiction where it is processed, including lawful access by courts, law-enforcement agencies, or regulatory authorities.

Wakalist remains responsible for personal information under its control and uses safeguards appropriate to the information and service involved.

12. Retention

We keep personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes for which it was collected, for legitimate operational requirements, or as required by law.

Retention depends on the type of information and feature. For example:

  • recent-search history is kept for a limited period;
  • temporary AI-assisted conversation history may last only for the current browser session;
  • account and saved-item information is kept while needed to provide account functionality; and
  • limited records may be kept longer where reasonably necessary for legal compliance, security, fraud prevention, business continuity, complaints, or disputes.

Analytics and service-provider retention periods may vary based on Wakalist's configuration and provider requirements.

13. Account Deletion

If you have a Wakalist account, you can use the account-deletion control available through your Profile page.

When you delete your account, Wakalist removes or de-identifies personal information associated with your account from its active systems and signs you out, subject to limited records that may need to be retained for legal, security, fraud-prevention, unsubscribe, backup, or dispute-resolution purposes.

Information already incorporated into independently maintained editorial listings may not automatically be removed merely because you previously suggested or reported it.

If you believe information associated with a deleted account remains improperly linked to you, contact us so we can review the request.

14. Security

Wakalist uses reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information against unauthorized access, loss, misuse, alteration, or disclosure.

No online service can guarantee absolute security.

You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure and for using appropriate security practices on your own devices.

Where required by applicable law, Wakalist will take appropriate steps to address and notify users or regulators of a privacy or security breach.

15. Children and Minors

Wakalist is not directed to children under 13, and children under 13 should not create an account.

Wakalist may include restaurants, nightlife, bars, lounges, events, and other experiences that have age, identification, alcohol-service, ticketing, or admission requirements set by the provider.

Users must comply with those provider-specific requirements.

16. Your Privacy Rights and Choices

Depending on where you live and the law that applies, you may have rights to:

  • request access to personal information Wakalist holds about you;
  • request correction of inaccurate information;
  • withdraw consent where processing is based on consent;
  • request deletion in appropriate circumstances; and
  • ask questions or make a complaint about Wakalist's privacy practices.

You can manage certain choices directly through Wakalist, including analytics preferences, newsletter preferences, recent searches, and account deletion.

We may need to verify your identity before completing a privacy request.

You may also have the right to raise a concern with an applicable privacy regulator, including the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada where appropriate.

17. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when our product, providers, legal obligations, or information-handling practices change.

When we update it, we will revise the “Last updated” date.

If a change is material, we will provide additional notice where reasonably appropriate, such as through the Service or by email.

Changes generally apply prospectively from their effective date, subject to applicable law.
